One of the Best Investments for 2008 ...

For years, I coached people in their personal finances.  Some have excessive debt and some have no debt.  Some have no plans for retirement and some have detailed plans for retirement and are implementing their plan.  Some have enough resources for their children’s and even grandchildren’s education while others do not.  I have helped people manage from $100 to millions of dollars.

Many times people will ask me, “Where should we invest our money?  What are the best investments?”  My mind automatically considers money markets, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, limited partnerships, real estate and certificates of deposit.  However, those are not the best investments.  Recently, I found the best investment anyone can make: starting new churches.

Last month, I had the privilege of attending a New Church Vision Dessert for Scott Canady who will be launching a church this fall in Texas.  He has already raised over $10,000 in addition to sound equipment from an individual who wanted to start a church in the Bay Area.  Someone from Reno who heard his story gave another $1,000.  In fact, individuals from his church are giving thousands of dollars above their regular offerings.

I wondered, why is he receiving so much support so far before he launches his church?  I think the answer is that many people see that God’s hand is on Scott.  They have seen how God has blessed his ministry, a ministry that is not only faithful to God’s call, but also very fruitful for His kingdom.

Not only has Scott’s ministry attracted money, but it has also attracted another kind of support.  A very talented young couple from Oklahoma will be leaving their guaranteed salary to join Scott in Texas, leading the worship ministry.  I don’t understand why someone would move and leave a secure job, except that the safest place anyone can be is in God’s will.  When God watches over us and we do what He wants us to, He will take care of us.  This young couple has seen how God has blessed Scott and they want to join God in what He is doing.

Consider asking God what He would have you do for Him as He is moving in Church Planting.  It may be to invest financially or to give some time or talent.  I would encourage you to give me a call to set up a time to attend one of the church planters cluster meetings.  I’ve been so impressed with the results of their ministries and their creativity.  I have been so enriched by my interaction with them.  If you would like to attend for no charge, contact me at 916-789-2518 or bennett5000@aol.com.

Consider joining us in the best investment anyone can make.

God Bless,
David Bennett
